About the Instructor

Dr. Mary E. Sanders and Eric B. Hamilton have combined their strengths to develop a unique, research-based program for schools, teachers, and students to increase wellbeing and happiness. To create our curriculum, we have curated the findings of Dr. Martin Seligman, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Dr. Angela Duckworth, Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD., among other leading positive psychology experts, into practical strategies that can be integrated into teachers’ personal lives, as well as their classrooms, enabling teachers and students to thrive.


Eric B. Hamilton is a veteran director for international schools around the world. Eric has spent his entire career enabling schools to be happier, more compassionate environments where both students and teachers thrive. His extensive experience in curriculum development and school leadership have enabled him and Mary to develop their courses using the most contemporary and research-based pedagogical methods.

Eric has over 25 years experience in education as a teacher and leader. He attended the University of Delaware where he earned his B.S. in elementary education and middle school math. Later, he completed the master’s program at the University of Colorado in curriculum and instruction. He has been a dedicated practitioner of mindfulness, meditation, and yoga for the past 10 years.


Dr. Mary E. Sanders has been involved in the world of positive psychology, health, and wellness for more than 20 years. With certifications from the Wholebeing Institute in Positive Psychology and as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) practitioner, she is highly qualified to lead teachers towards happier, more holistic classrooms.

Dr. Sanders attended Eastern Illinois University and earned her B.S. in zoology and chemistry. She then attended Logan College of Chiropractic to earn her doctorate in chiropractic. Dr. Sanders is a certified yoga Instructor and has been a mindfulness, meditation, and yoga practitioner of over 25 years.

Module 02: Mindfulness


There are research based physical and mental exercises that help adults and children to increase executive functioning, emotional regulation, self calming, social skills and a whole host of other physical and mental benefits. Since the teacher is the pulse of the classroom, it is important that the teacher has the ability to connect their mind and body. With a consistent personal mindfulness practice by teachers and a dedicated portion of time in the classroom, a teacher can have a dramatic positive effect on the learning environment.

Essential Question:

With the typical levels of anxiety and stress experienced by teachers, how can one calm the mind, connect to the body and create a classroom environment that is calm and highly functioning?

Knowledge that you will develop in Module 2:

  • Definition of mindfulness and how it impacts education.
  • The effects of meditation as a mindfulness tool on the body and mind.
  • The effects of yoga as a mindfulness tool for the brain and body.
  • How to implement a mindfulness practice in your classroom.


Módulo 02: Atención y Consciencia Plena


Existen ejercicios físicos y mentales basados en la investigación que ayudan a adultos y niños a aumentar su funcionamiento ejecutivo, la regulación emocional, la tranquilidad personal, las habilidades sociales y que conllevan a toda una serie de beneficios físicos y mentales. Dado que el profesor es el pulso de la clase, es importante que éste tenga la capacidad de conectar su mente y cuerpo. Con una práctica personal consistente por parte de los maestros y una parte del tiempo del aula dedicada a estas prácticas, un maestro puede lograr un efecto muy positivo en el ambiente de aprendizaje en su aula.

Pregunta Esencial:

Con los niveles típicos de ansiedad y estrés que experimentan los maestros, ¿cómo puede uno calmar la mente, conectar con el cuerpo y crear un ambiente de clase tranquilo y altamente funcional?

  • Los efectos de la meditación como una herramienta de la atención plena en el cuerpo y la mente.
