Course Description
Module 02: Mindfulness
Understandings:
There are research based physical and mental exercises that help adults and children to increase executive functioning, emotional regulation, self calming, social skills and a whole host of other physical and mental benefits. Since the teacher is the pulse of the classroom, it is important that the teacher has the ability to connect their mind and body. With consistent personal practice by teachers and a dedicated portion of time in the classroom, a teacher can have a dramatic positive effect on the learning environment.
With the typical levels of anxiety and stress experienced by teachers, how can one calm the mind, connect to the body and create a classroom environment that is calm and highly functioning?
Knowledges that you will develop on Module 2:
- Definition of mindfulness and how it impacts education.
- The effects of meditation as a mindfulness tool on the body and mind.
- The effects of yoga as a mindfulness tool for the brain and body.
- How to create a FLOW environment.
